The Transmission Network Planning Engineer is responsible for the design of the Transmission network of the specific Mobile Network Operator (MNO). This represents a key role in ensuring the performance and delivery of the microwave links. The Transmission Network Planning Engineer is responsible to design and verify the microwave transmission links and associated changes thereof in the network.

Role

• To design the microwave transmission links to connect a node to the network of the MNO.
• To ensure timeliness & quality delivery of the designs to the “Build” department.
• To ensure that the designs are according to the set Rules & guidelines and with the appropriate, required capacity
• To ensure a proper database on the designed microwave transmission links in the network.
• Interface with the “build” department concerning the specifics and timing of certain microwave transmission links

Tasks

• Maintain the databases on the installed microwave transmission links
• Dimensioning & frequency planning of the microwave transmission links
• Dimensioning the capacity demands of the network
• Requesting Line of Sight surveys to specified contractors
• Microwave links are to be designed with iQ.link planning tool.

• Good communication skills, both written and oral, in English and Dutch (the first mandatory, the second preferred)
• Understand Ericsson’s and the customer’s objectives

Qualifications and Experience

• Sound knowledge of microwave transmission protocols and technology
• Sound knowledge of mobile networks
• Sound knowledge of common network roll-out procedures
• Thorough understanding of strategies to evolve an existing network for the future demands
